2007
The It’s Time to Talk campaign emerged in 2007 when the key stakeholders across Bankstown and Canterbury came together with the desire to raise awareness and provide better understanding of Domestic Violence locally.
Over the years, the CBDVLC has coordinated campaigns, a conference and training sessions for GPs, childcare workers and community workers to help our local service providers better identify and respond to domestic violence.
2009 - an award winning project
In 2009 the ITTT campaign was a state winner receiving a certificate of merit from the Australian Crime Prevention awards program in recognition of the innovative ways the program raised awareness. It won the same award in 2013 for its professional development seminars offered to community and child care workers.
2018 to 2020
The award funds were put back into the project in 2018 to support its new goal of re-launching the website and providing workshops to the community. The website would promote healthy relationships along with providing information and resources relating to domestic and family violence. It is to be designed to engage young people between the ages of 18 and 25, as well as providing access to resources for professionals.
2021 and onwards
The new direction of the ITTT website is to develop links and build on other local initiatives to provide a central location for the community and professionals to access information and resources. Raising awareness of what domestic and family violence looks like and where to access support guides the programs developments, but it will also promote that Canterbury Bankstown says YES to healthy relationships, and explore what this looks like.
Workshops delivered in partnership with SWS Recovery College will explore healthy relationships and domestic and family violence with young people aged between 18 and 25.
2021 - What does the future of the program look like
The website will be fully launched in February 2021 and workshops will follow shortly after.
Following this, materials will be produced to support Canterbury Bankstown Council’s Say No to DV and Say YES to healthy relationships campaign. The CBDVLC will continue to ensure the ITTT program is responding to local concerns and needs.
